So this morning I woke up to quite a bit of ice, the roads were snow/ice packed on the way to work (it made for a very rough ride, not terribly slippery, just bouncy like on muchly uneven terrain).
When I pulled my car into my parking spot at home, my key was stuck in the ignition!! I didn't want to pull too hard for fear of breaking it, but I saw $$$ signs thinking of how in the heck I'd get this fixed.
Did you know you can't pull the key out of the ignition when the car is still in Drive??
And after spending a good hour, hour and a half on a batch of cupcakes for my sister to take to work tomorrow, a good coconut recipe with a marshmallow frosting (very similar to boiled icing), complete with cute little flowers, and 3 different type of sprinkles, the icing ran down the sides of the cupcakes after I put them in the carrier. I have never had this happen before. For sure I'm not sending them now :-( The only thing I can figure out is the frosting might have still been a bit warm, and when I put the cover on (which I almost never do right away), it created more heat in that little "chamber". The cupcakes themselves had been cooling for about 3 hours.
Argghhh. What a day. No, what a WEEK!

Please tell me that you didn't fall or I'll be fed-ex'ing you a lifetime supply of bubble wrap to wear in the winter!! :P
Sorry Carla, I hit send before I was done my post... I didn't fall but it was close a few times! We had freezing rain for about 4 hours last night, thankfully there had been snow before that so it created some traction! Still was so bumpy on the roads, something I'd never felt before while driving.
So frustrating! What happened with your key?
Steady Plodder, as soon as I put the car in PARK, the key came out no problem :-)
Ha, ha, yes I've done that with the key in the ignition before...:)!
I've also had problems with icing on cupcakes before. Of course, I'm not near the baker you are...
I guess it was one of those days...:)! Sunday will be better.
I have done the key thing myself too. I felt like such an idiot. Then my son did it and I got to chuckle at him. It must run in the family :-)
I remember learning that trick about the key oh so many years ago. I'd never driven an automatic before, so how the heck would I know to put the car in park before taking the key out?? A friend of mine actually did that last week, so I told her that. You'd think it would be obvious, she said.
Oh, "those" days. :P They do come around, don't they?
Cupcake recipe please! They sound divine...
As much as I LOVE snow, I hate driving in! While I was driving into my office on Saturday for a quick mtg, I slid on a patch of ice and my breaks locked and I ran and red light and went into the mdidle of an intersection - Thank God it was 7:00am and there was no one on the road! So scary though! Glad you are safe too :)
Glad you can see the funny side (now, not then perhaps).
Hope you have a great week and luck shines upon you.

Oh, I've never done that with the car ignition but it's good to know.
The icing was probably just because the cupcakes where a little warm. I also made some cupcakes that I'm calling top-hat cupcakes. I'll post pictures at a later time. They are good but not nearly as cute and not decorated as nicely as yours. You really do a nice job.
I'll remember to stay away from cars and cupcakes today!! Too funny - I've done the car in drive so many times you'd think I would have it figured out by now, but oh no! Hope tomorrow is better!
oh dear me, hoping that this week is a lot better for you......

Lol, I've done that with the key in the ignition too, haha. I actually did something similar at the gas pump once, I tried to start my vehicle while it was in gear. It wouldn't start and I was so perplexed by it that I almost had them call a tow truck. Thankfully I figured it out before then ;)
Glad you made it to and from work safely. I laughed about the key being stuck in the ignition--i did that once, too, because i'm old enough to remember when my dad took the key out of ignition while he was driving the car! That went away by the late 1960's, but when i was driving a newer automatic car, i had to scratch my head ;-) I drive a standard (manual) transmission now, so no worries about putting the car in park.
Sad to hear about the cupcakes :0(
Sounds like something that nearly always happens when i bake--the stuff tastes all right, but it looks homemade, and not in a good way, if you know what i mean.

Sad to hear about the cupcakes, although i must say it did console me a smidge to know that such an excellent baker can have an off oments. Not that i wish it upon you in any way, just that it's nice to know you are indeed a human baker and no
